Includes a great story about Reb Carlebach.

Music that’s pushing us into the Messianic Era! May 13, 2008

Ok So in order to get the ball rolling on this blog I am going to make the first steps to get some inspiration online. As I desperately look throughout the web for the best in Jewish Music (at least according to my taste which is a mix of trip/hop/electronica/downtempo with a Jewish Twist, I’ve come across a few artists that are pushing the envelope on the musical richter scale.

Jamie Saft – An amazing musician I encountered a few years ago did a two recording on John Zorn’s Tzadik label. The first “Sovlanut” is an amazing blend of keyboard mastery mixed with Dubbed out beats and ancient melodies. His follow up “Breadcrumb Sins” is also a great find. You can find his music on itunes.

Shtetl Superstar Soundsystem– What a name!! I can’t believe I didn’t come up with it first…oh well. This band lead by Yuriy Gurzhy is totally awesome. A fine mix of ska and the Shtetl.

An oldie but a goodie is David Gould’s Adonia in Dub combining ancient melodies with dubby beats.

My great and wonderful friend Gidon Shikler is also putting out some of the sweetest music. A talented muti-instrumentalist Gidon plays almost all of the instruments on each track. Make sure to check out his music here.

A couple of my friends from Tsfat who go by Kabbalah Dream Orchestra put out a cool CD worth listening to.

Then of course there is the FAMOUS Moshav. Aside from being incredible musicians these guys are among the sweetest souls in the world. It is a great joy to not only live in the same neighborhood and pray together, but also to Jam out. Wooooo

Be on the lookout for Yosef Solomon’s solo CD coming soon…blending reggae sounds with Divrei Kadosh

Hello Everyone,

It is explained in the depths of Judaism that when the Most High created the world, it shattered due to the intense amounts of holiness it attempted to hold. These bits and pieces of wisdom now lay all around the world in all traditions and in all lands. It is our duty to find these sparks and bring them together as a whole.

My goal is to create a space for us all to share, read, express, uplift, and to present self awakened leaders from our generation to share and answer questions and comments posted.

“No one learns truth one becomes Truth” -Lubavitcher Rebbe
